• Corporate America has wrecked our economy--in Pennsylvania and across the entire country. We have to restore balance by building an economy that works for everybody, not just those at the top. An important way to do that is to restore workers' freedom to bargain for fair wages and better benefits by passing the Employee Free Choice Act.
• We need the Employee Free Choice Act because the current system for forming unions and bargaining is broken beyond repair. Corporations routinely harass, intimidate, coerce and fire workers just because they want the freedom to bargain for a better life--and even if companies get caught, they get little more than a slap on the wrist.
• In Pennsylvania, union workers earn wages that are 9.4 percent higher than the wages of nonunion workers doing similar jobs. Working families need that extra buying power, and so does our economy.
• Your willingness to support a vote on the Employee Free Choice Act in the last Congress was exactly the kind of act of conscience for which Pennsylvania's working families know they can count on you. We thank you for that and hope we can count on you again in this Congress.
• As a Pennsylvania worker and voter, I urge you to support the Employee Free Choice Act--for Pennsylvania's workers and for the American economy.
