Local 542 C-Branch Business Agent and Organizer John Epperson is Appointed International Representative for the Northeast Region

John became a member of Local 542 in 2001, when he worked for TCM Sweeping. Next, he tested out to become a parent-body member and became the lead equipment operator for Mercer Wrecking/Sims Metal, running equipment on the ships and on the ground at the Port of Fairless Hills.
During his years at Mercer, John was elected Shop Steward and served in that capacity until he was appointed as a C-Branch Business Agent in February 2018. 
As a Business Agent, John made sure to keep up to date on labor laws, industry trends, and negotiation strategies. He was always expanding his knowledge and updating his skills.
In addition to doing an excellent job as a Business Agent, John also excelled at organizing, leading several successful organizing drives and adding many new members to our Local. He has also served as a mentor to many of our younger members. 
In March 2025, General President John Downey appointed John Epperson as the International Representative for the Northeast Region.
