Legends of Labor Hall of Fame
Apr 16, 2024

On Friday, February 2, 2024, Robert T. Heenan was posthumously inducted into the Legends of Labor Hall of Fame. Bob’s son John, daughter-in-law Jeri and daughter Mary Ann were on hand for the induction ceremony that included a recording of a broadcast honoring Bob’s life that was later broadcast on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT.

The radio broadcast included conversations with Bob’s long-time friends Pat Eiding, former President of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO, and lawyer Tom McGoldrick. Bob’s son John, along with former IUOE Recording Secretary Tom Danese, and current Recording Secretary Robert Walsh also shared anecdotes about Bob’s life.

Following the broadcast, Joe Dougherty Jr., presented Bob’s family with a plaque highlighting his lifelong commitment to Local 542 and the Philadelphia Labor Movement. A replica of the plaque can be found in the District 1 Union Hall and a recording of the broadcast can be found here.

Initiated by the Pro-Labor Broadcast media, PhillyLabor.com and JAKIB Media, the Legends of Labor Hall of Fame was established to honor and recognize those leaders of Labor who have made an indelible mark on their union, their community, and the labor movement.
