The International of Operating Engineers' summer magazine is now available on their website. This edition highlights the outstanding work being done by Operating Engineers across North America, including important updates on training, organizing initiatives, major infrastructure projects, and legislative developments that affect our members and our work.
John L. Downey was elected General President of the International Union of Operating Engineers in January 2025.
John became a member of our Local in 2002, through an organizing drive at TDS Concrete, later working for TCM Sweeping.
From 2003-2005, John served as a shop steward for Academy Recycling and Winzinger. In 2005, he became a C-Branch Business Agent for Local 542.

United States Senator Bob Casey visited our new Bernville Training Center on Friday, March 29, 2024. He was very impressed with our world-class training facility, and we were proud to show him around.
