The year was 1948. In the United States, Harry S Truman was the President. The Yearly Inflation Rate for the USA hit 7.74%.  If you were looking to buy a new house, expect to spend roughly $7,700.00 while your average salary was $2,950.00. There was no Super Bowl back then but the NFL Champions were the Baltimore Colts.  However, the Montreal Canadiens won the Stanley Cup, The St. Louis Hawks won the NBA Finals, and The Cleveland Indians were the World Series Champions.
In global news, North Korea became its own country. Czechoslovakia becomes communist.  The Western European Treaty was signed and the World Heath Organization was established.
