In global news, Syria and Egypt become politically unified with the creation of the United Arab Republic. Russia launches their third satellite, Sputnik 3, while The United States forms NASA. The peace sign was created in The United Kingdom and the musical My Fair Lady debuted starring Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews.
